Often Has Similarities, These 4 Things Are Pared By Parents to Their Children

"Duh, the eyelashes are really thin, they must be lower than their mothers, huh?" Maybe you are already familiar with such sentences, which generally discuss the similarity of a person's physical characteristics to parents. Not surprisingly, this is because genetics is mentioned as the main actor that makes a child usually resemble or even very similar to his parents. Indeed, what are the "inheritance" that can be passed down from parent to child?

What are the things that can be passed down from parent to child?

It turns out it's not just a figment, you know! A child can indeed have a characteristic that is also owned by his parents. Curious what can be passed from parent to child? Here's an example:

1. Risk of disease

The human body is unique because it consists of trillions of constituent cells. In each of these cells, there is a core or nucleus structure which contains chromosomes. Each chromosome is equipped with strands of deoxyribonucleic acid or DNA. Well, genes are part of DNA that will be passed down from parent to child.

Every child normally has two copies of the genes of both parents. When later this inherited DNA is damaged, the structure will change.

Damage to the structure of this DNA can be triggered by various things, one of which is exposure to chemicals. This is what then causes the appearance of diseases in the body. Well, the structure of damaged DNA can decrease in children.

Especially if the gene is strong enough, so it will beat other genes that do not carry disease. Automatic at birth, most likely the child already has the risk of hereditary diseases experienced by his parents.

2. Physical characteristics

As explained earlier, genes can be regarded as part of DNA that carries all the information about the characteristics of parents to be inherited from their children. Each person's body has more than 20,000 constituent genes, in which all these genes have two different copies obtained from both parents.

While DNA, contributes as many as 23 chromosome pairs for each child's body. In other words, father and mother will contribute each of the 23 chromosomes, which eventually form 46 total chromosomes, aka 23 chromosome pairs.

Within each of these chromosomes there is a variety of information from genes that play a role in determining the physical appearance of a child. Because the body has two different chromosome pairs from the father and mother, automatically the gene pair is not the same.

It is the pair of genes that will be responsible for the formation of a person's characteristic or physical appearance. As a result, children also have certain characteristics because they are passed down from their parents.

That is why some physical characteristics of a child are usually similar to that of a mother, while some other body parts resemble that of a father.

In fact, it could be that a child is more likely to be like his father or mother. Again, this is because the child's DNA is a combination of both parents.

As a result, the color of the hair, the color of the eyeball, the shape of the nose, the thickness of the eyebrows, the bending of the lashes, and other things in children are very similar to their parents.

3. Height

Quoting from Genetics Home Reference, the researchers believe that about 80 percent of a child's height is influenced by heredity. Or in other words, the child's body can be tall or short because it inherits "talent" from his parents.

Look, there are various variations of genes that are responsible for determining the size of a child's height. That is why, it is not surprising to see children who are very high, while there are also those who are ordinary or tend to be short.

This will usually be easily answered when looking at his parents' posture. In a sense, the child's physical body is actually high because it is derived from parents with similar physicality.

However, the story is different when between siblings turns out to have different heights. This can be due to the combination of the two different parents' genes, so the size of the height between siblings and sisters is usually not the same.

4. Breast size

It's not new if genetic or hereditary factors are touted as one of the determinants of the size of a woman's breasts. In fact, this is true.

A study published in BMC Medical Genetics, found that the genetic variation of parents, especially mothers, determined the size of the breast of his daughter. This means that girls born to a mother with large breasts are likely to have a large breast size.

Conversely, if the mother of a girl has moderate or even small breast size, the possibility of growing her breast size is also not too large.

Supported by the results of research from the journal Twin Research and and Human Genetics, that about 56 percent of the likelihood of breast size is lowered from parents to children. The results were obtained by comparing bra cup sizes in about 16,000 women.
